Happy New Year!

How long is it appropriate to say, "Happy New Year"?

Can you still say it to strangers in, let's say, March?  Is it okay to check out at Wal-Mart and instead of saying "thank you," for you to excitedly say, "Happy New Year!"?

One of my best friends from college and I will call each other in March and April only to say "Happy New Year" with as much gusto as we would on the actual day.  We think we are so funny and go into a fit of hysterical laughter at ourselves.  Yep.

This is a family recipe that my mother has made ever since I can remember.  It makes a boatload, is delicious, and the best news is that there is never any leftovers after New Years Day.

Enjoy New Years Eve and be careful!

Trash

Ingredients:
1 box of Chex Rice cereal
1 box of Chex Wheat cereal
1 box of Chex Corn cereal
1 bag pretzels
1 can of mixed nuts
1 can of peanuts
1 1/2 cups butter, melted
1 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 T. Tabasco
Lawry's seasoning salt
salt

Directions:
In two shallow baking pans, combine all dry ingredients.

Preheat oven to 250 degrees.

Pour melted butter, Worcestershire, salt and Lawry's over mixture equally, stirring well.

Place in oven for about 30 - 45 minutes, stirring often.  You might want to do this in batches, so the chex mix is in shallow pans.  The goal is for the mix to dry out a bit and become crunchy.
